About
Jameel Ahmad, Ph.D., is George Fox Professor and Chairman of Civil Engineering at Cooper Union. Dr. Ahmad has published numerous professional papers in engineering, technology, and management. He has given expert testimony before the Committee on Environment and Public Works of the US Senate. He is a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction, Chi Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, and a charter member of the Structural Engineering Institute. He has been awarded several citations for civic duty, including the Outstanding Service Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers and the President's Citation from Cooper Union. He is a Fellow at the Research Institute for the Study of Man. Dr. Ahmad is also Senior Advisor and member, board of advisors, of Verdant Power LLC, a kinetic hydropower company based in New York. Dr. Ahmad's research interests include reinforced concrete structures, renewable energy, urban security and applications of finite element method
Dr. Ahmad holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
