ECCC - The Electronic Computational Chemistry Conference
Steve Bachrach conceived of the ECCC and organized the first five conferences. He gave a description of ECCC-1 here: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ci00025a011 .
As Steve's article explains, ECCC-1 was the first online chemistry conference to take place entirely through the use of web browsers and hypertext. It was preceded by ChemConf '93, which was the first online chemistry conference, but CC93 did not use the Web. Rather, it relied on email discussion groups and an ftp server to share files. See also: http://www.harald-schweim.de/lustry/ca25/NIU.htm .
Every ECCC was announced on the Computational Chemistry List (http://www.ccl.net), which was critically important in pulling the community together.
ECCC-1 The ECCC was first organized by Steve Bachrach in November 1994. The Proceedings of the First Electronic Computational Chemistry Conference were published on CDROM by ARInternet, but are apparently no longer available. See here.
- ECCC-5 Organized by Steve Bachrach in November 1998. The proceedings of this conference were published as individual articles in the Internet Journal of Chemistry. This journal is now defunct.
- ECCC-6 Organized by Herbert Homeier in November 1999, with assistance from Steven Bachrach. No proceedings were published. See here.
The 7th Electronic Computational Chemistry Conference (ECCC7) was organized by Robert Q. Topper in 2001. The proceedings were subsequently published in the Internet Journal of Chemistry. Unfortunately, this journal is now defunct. SOC Members: David Ferguson, Yi-Ping Liu, Jan M.L. (Gershom) Martin, Francis Muguet, Mark Tuckerman. WOC Members: Bob Hopkins, Dominic Coluccio, Heather Hauck, Christopher Lent, Renee Miszputen, Sung-Hyun Son.
