Novel Exercise Systems for Teens > Hit'N Fit Boxing Treadmill

Hit'N Fit (2011)

Hit'N Fit is a simple boxing game integrated with a commercial treadmill.  The boxing game was added to create additional interest to encourage the exerciser to extend the duration of the treadmill workout, as well as to add upper body conditioning to the exercise session.  The design team hacked into the treadmill controller, and the treadmill is run from a simple pushbutton control panel running power and speed.  An array of four punching pads surrounds the treamill. An Arduino microprocessor lights an LED indictor above a randomly selected pad, and records the time required for the exerciser to hit the pad, and scores the session based on the number of successful hits.
